Beaches Galore in West Wales
Poppit Sands This is the closest beach to us and is a favourite with our dog Archie. There is a large dog-friendly area which is open all year-round. The water is shallow and therefore ideal for families and paddling. There is a large car park (free in the winter months) and a lovely little cafe run by Crwst – doughnuts a speciality ! (15 minute drive)
Aberporth There are two sides to this beach and one side is good for dogs all year round. Also great fish and chips to sit and eat whilst watching the sun go down. . (25 minute drive)
Newport A huge expanse of beach, where there is a lovely cafe serving delicious ice creams and drinks or there is also the Cat Rock Cafe. There is a large car park and you can even drive right onto the beach. Dog friendly all year round. (20 minute drive)
Tresaith Another lovely beach and great to combine with dinner at The Ship Inn. There is also a waterfall right from the cliffs above. Lots of dolphins are spotted from here too. There is a car park (with an honesty box payment system) at the top of the hill and then a short walk down some steps to the pub and the beach. Dog friendly all year round. (25 minute drive)
Llangrannog Now this one really is stunning, with cafes and shops right up to the beach itself. (30 minute drive)
Mwnt Bit of a winding road route to get there, but definitely worth the effort. It is a fairly compact beach and there are a number of steps to get down to it, but really beautiful and winner of several awards. There is also a car park at the top which is free in the winter months. Dogs are allowed in winter, but not summer. (25 minute drive)
New Quay Not the Cornish town, but very similar in style. Lots of places to eat and drink and some quaint shops too. Restrictions for dogs in the summer. Plenty of parking. (40 minute drive)
