Hot Tub Use

Hot Tub – Rules and Operating Instructions

VERY IMPORTANT : PLEASE DO NO ATTEMPT TO USE THE HOT TUB UNLESS YOU HAVE HAD A FULL SAFETY BRIEFING FROM THE OWNER.

This is a wood-fired hot tub and it operates differently from other spa-type hot tubs you may have used. It does NOT have bubble jets. The hot tub will be set up and warm, ready for your arrival time (if requested in advance) and we will show you how to keep it hot during use. IF YOU CHOOSE TO ADD MORE FIREWOOD BEFORE GETTING IN, PLEASE USE THE PROTECTIVE GLOVE PROVIDED AND BE ADVISED THAT THE TEMPERATURE WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AND YOU WILL NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS, USING THE TEMPERATE GAUGE PROVIDED – NEVER LET THE TEMPERATURE EXCEED 40 DEGREES. Hot Tubs are not the same as a normal baths. Water does not cool as rapidly as it otherwise would, due to the firewood burning. For this reason, IF YOU FIND IT TOO HOT, GET OUT. It is also important to only use the hot tub for shorter periods initially, to avoid dizziness or fainting. We will provide enough wood for one heating of the tub per day, but more than that will occur an additional charge, to cover the cost of the extra wood. For subsequent evenings, we will show you how to set the fire and will be around to help if you have any problems. PLEASE NOTE, that keeping the fire going does take a little maintenance and takes significantly longer to heat in the winter (around 3 hours from cold in the winter, as opposed to 1.5 hours in the warmer months).

Safety Notes

  1. The stove is HOT during operation, as is the flue (chimney). Therefore, DO NOT EVER TOUCH IT
when the stove is burning and for a good time afterwards.
  2. Please ensure that the fire has completely died down and the burner door is fully closed before
leaving the stove unattended. Fire safety equipment is provided, but should not be needed if these
rules are adhered to, as the fire is contained within the stove.
  3. This is a wood burning stove and therefore you must never use anything other than wood which we
provide. Coal or charcoal used in the stove is likely to damage the system (due to much higher
    burning temperatures).
  4. Due to increased heat present in a hot tub, you must NOT use the hot tub if you are under the
influence of Alcohol. This also applies to any other conditions wherein bathing would be an issue; if
you’re unsure you should speak to your doctor about this.
  5. The insulated lid for the hot tub should remain on whenever the tub is not in use and it must be clipped back in place when you have finished using the tub; in addition you can and should remove the steps to keep children from accessing it unnoticed.
  6. The water level in the tub should always be above the HOT water outlet (top exterior hose) while
the stove is in use, to avoid damage to the tub lining.
  7. During powerful wind storms, we may need to remove the chimney and the hot tub will therefore
be out of use during that time. No refunds will be issued in this case.
  8. The hot tub is not covered (to allow for star-gazing) and may not be suitable for use in heavy rain, but can be very pleasant in a lighter rain shower.
  9. Children should never be allowed behind the hot tub or near the stove and should also NEVER be
left unattended around it or whilst bathing.
  10. The water in the tub is changed between guest use and treated with Eco-friendly oxygen-based
sanitisers for longer stays (no chlorine or bromine is used). Please do not add anything (bubble
bath, salts etc) to the tub, as this will cause damage to the tub and incur an extra cleaning charge.
  11. Please use the net and underwater hoover provided to remove any debris that may be floating in the water.
  12. For your own safety you shouldn’t bathe alone.
  13. Before getting into the water (and during use if the fire is burning), use the paddle to mix the water,
so that the temperature is even and test the water temperature before getting in. There is no
digital control to the water temperature, so you need to keep an eye on this
  14. You can always add cold water to the hot tub if you find the temperature to be too hot for you.
  15. The Hot Tub Waiver form below must be read and signed before entering the tub – you can do this beforehand or on arrival (we will print a copy out for you)

NOW, YOU JUST NEED TO SIT BACK, ENJOY THE SMELL OF THE CRACKLING WOOD, RELAX AND ENJOY THE VIEW !
