Restaurants nearby

Always a good idea to phone ahead, as local restaurants can get quite busy at any time of the year.

Pen y Bryn Pub and Restaurant

Our closest pub – about 5 minutes’ drive (closed on Mondays).  A real traditional pub with open fire and pub grub.  Dogs are allowed and there is a car park on the left just before you reach the pub.

The Nag’s Head

Our favourite pub for great food and service – in Abercych about 12 minutes’ drive.  A bit more upmarket than just pub grub, but also really good value.  There is an outside undercover section where dogs are allowed.

Mannuccis

This new restaurant in Cardigan town is a great addition to our local recommendations. A family run restaurant with beautiful décor and a really warm (and entertaining) welcome from the staff. The food is delicious and authentically Italian and the house wine is the perfect accompaniment. Be warned though, you need to book well in advance as they are VERY popular. There is also an outside heated patio area where dogs are welcome too.

The Ferry Inn

Good to combine this one with a visit to Poppit Sands, as it is on the way. Right on the river Teifi with wonderful views and great food. You can park along the road outside and dogs are allowed in the outside heated area. About 15 minutes’ drive.

Salutation Inn

A good pub for Sunday Lunch on the way to Newport Beach.  Lots of parking and dogs are allowed in the bar. About 15 minutes’ drive.

Crwst Café, Cardigan and Poppit Sands

Their main eatery is in Cardigan, but they have an offshoot at Poppit Sands.  Open until 3pm in Cardigan and later at the beach according to the season. A great place for breakfast, lunch or on Sunday they do an amazing brunch – booking a must for this one and they love dogs.  The beach branch does a great range of fresh-filled rolls, cakes, doughnuts and wonderful ice-cream. About 15 minutes’ drive.

PizzaTipi

Right at the entrance to Cardigan town alongside the river (park in the first town car park).  You can sit inside or out (covered seating), including underneath a large canvas-covered area.  Great fresh pizza and a wonderful atmosphere. About 15 minutes’ drive. Dogs allowed outside.

The Ship Inn, Tresaith

A lovely pub with great views of the beach and the possibility of spotting some dolphins into the bargain – they often have more success than the local boat trips !  Great traditional menu too.  You can park in the car park on the right at the top of the hill and walk down to the pub, right opposite the beach, so take the dog for a walk first. About 25 minutes’ drive, some quite narrow roads.

The Cat Rock Cafe

This is the restaurant attached to the Golf Club at Newport Sands. A great place for a drink or a coffee and cake after a walk on the glorious sandy beach, or a hearty lunch if you want to sample their impressive menu. They do an amazing Sunday Roast too, although always best to book in advance for that one. They have a dog-friendly area and glorious views out to sea.

The Cliff Hotel and Spa

The perfect place for a special occasion, or just a holiday treat.  The views from the cliff-top above Poppit Sands are spectacular and the food served in the hotel’s restaurant is top quality – great cocktails and mocktails too !  You can even combine a lunch here with some spa treatments in the hotel Spa.  Booking in advance is a must and no dogs inside at this one. About 20 minutes’ drive, parking available and some lovely cliff top walks and coves to discover after your lunch.

The Copper Pot

A lovely posh pub grub restaurant, right in the centre of Cardigan Town. Dogs not allowed in this one and pretty always need to book, but well worth it.
